The Genius Project – A Summer Experience for College-Bound Students

The Genius Project provides support for incoming freshman and transfer students with documented learning differences, including, but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and/or mental health diagnoses. The purpose of this four-day intensive is to introduce students to new ways of understanding their neurodivergence. Participants will be guided in creating new narratives about their learning styles that are strengths-based, in order to remove the stigma that is often associated with having learning differences on college campuses. In short, The Genius Project equips students with the mindset and skills that they need to thrive in college and beyond.

This is a virtual online course you may experience from the comfort of your own home.

Activities include: identifying the true nature of genius and using this understanding to recognize one’s unique talents, interests and characteristics; exploring ancient stories from mythology about insightful living; participating in selecting particular energy profiles that lead to creating successful study environments; learning about executive functioning and the brain involved in organization, planning and memory; learning mindfulness techniques to help regulate attention, anxiety, stress, and social-emotional development; and engaging with assistive technology and accessibility supports offered at the University of La Verne.
