Dear Faculty and Staff,
The Immigration Response Task Force at Pacifica emerged out of February’s Town Hall Meeting. This task force is comprised of faculty, staff, and executive-level administration. We are looking at ways to support all members of our community, and in particular, those who are most vulnerable in today’s climate around immigration. We will send regular emails, likely semi-monthly, to share important information around these issues. In addition, we will post pertinent information on community bulletin boards on each campus and ensure that those who do not have regular access to email will receive hardcopies of the information shared here.
1. COMING UP: Know Your Rights. Conozca Sus Derechos. This Friday, March 24, Trinity Episcopal Church will host the Mexican Consulate, his Legal Team, and Community Leaders, including Salud Carbajal, Monqiue Limon, and Cathy Murillo, on issues facing immigrants. The information fliers are attached in Spanish and English.
2. Alert System for SB County – Receive immigration alerts with verified information.
To receive verified information about immigration and ICE presence in our community. Text the word ALERTA to 24587.
Sistema de Alerta para el Condado de SB – Reciba alertas de inmigración con información verificada.
Ahora recibira informacion sobre los derechos de los inmigrantes y la presencia de la migra localmente. Compartir esta información con amigos y familiars. Text la palabra ALERTA to 24587.
The text alert is housed by CA– USE and is via a secure encrypted system to allow for anonymity. Numbers will not be used for any other purposes. Any information that is shared through this system will have been confirmed via the Network and Police Department to ensure accuracy.
3. Attached is a Family Preparedness Plan provided by Immigrant Legal Resource Center in Spanish and English. It is important for all families, regardless of immigration status, to have a plan in place to help reduce the stress of the unexpected. This plan includes advice for immigrant and mixed status families who face additional challenges.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
In gratitude,
Immigration Response Task Force
