Carrying the Work of the Elders Forward
Intimations from Depth Psychology and Dream Tending
Tuesday, June 9, 2026 – Thursday, June 18, 2026
We are thrilled to announce an exciting journey co-sponsored by OPUS and Dream Tending – a pilgrimage to Switzerland! Embark on a transformative adventure as we spend time imagining how to carry the work of the Elders of Depth Psychology forward. Honoring our ancestors, including Jung, Hillman, Woodman, Campbell, and Gimbutas (among many), we will travel to Eranos, the cauldron of so many ideas from the Jungian tradition. Brace yourself for an enchanting experience as we travel from Zurich, over the majestic Alps, to Ascona. We will immerse ourselves in breathtaking landscapes, tour the Borromean Islands at Lake Maggiore, and visit the home of Jung in Zurich. The pinnacle of our expedition awaits at Eranos, where we will indulge in days filled with captivating dreams and lectures reflecting on the past and future of Dream Tending and Depth Psychology. Join us on this extraordinary voyage, where every step echoes the spirit of Jung, and every moment is a dream come true!

Tuesday, June 9th
Old Town Zurich
Our journey will begin in Old Town Zurich, a place full of opportunities and possibilities. In Old Town, you are immediately a part of its history- it is picturesque and ensouled.
Tuesday, June 9th – Sunday, June 14th
Eranos – Stay in Ascona
Eranos, “The Gathering Place,” is the setting where Jung spent many summers, along with Marie Louise Von Franz, Mircea Eliade, Joseph Campbell, and Erich Neumann, to name but a few. They would meet during the summer months to host a “festival of ideas.” Here, at Eranos, we will work with dreams and imagination. We will enjoy meals on the Terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore as we participate in discussion/conversation at the original “Round Table,” where Jung and his colleagues evolved so much of what Depth Psychology consists of today, along with seeds of tomorrow.
Sunday, June 14th – Tuesday, June 16th
Travel from Ascona to Stresa, Italy
We will continue our journey down the lake to Stresa, Italy! This will be a place for personal contemplation, relaxation, and introspection. This picturesque village is prized for its beautiful architecture and Italian cuisine. Here, too, we will further our exploration into deep imagination. When touring the Borromean Islands at Lake Maggiore, the psychodynamic field opens ever more fluidly!
Tuesday, June 16th
Benedictine Monastery with Black Madonna and Travel back to Zurich
We will travel to The Benedictine Monastery at Elsendorff. In this space, the story of the Black Madonna and the feminine mysteries come alive. We will also meet Dr. Robert Hinshaw, a leading Jungian Analyst, who will host us and share his archive of Junigian-oriented books and memorabilia.
Wednesday, June 17th
Jung’s Home: Private Tour
We have arranged a private tour of Jung’s personal home. We will visit his study and walk the grounds where several of his living dream images are sculpted in stone.
Wednesday, June 17th
Bollingen Tower
We will be received at Bollingen Tower! We will visit his stone sculptures and the tower itself where Jung spent so much of his time in contemplation.
Thursday, June 18th
A Day in Zurich and Closing Ceremony
We will end our journey together in Old Town Zurich. In a closing dinner and ritual, we will reflect on the echoes we experience while walking the path of the Elders of Depth Psychology.
