On Tuesday July 24, the Myth Salon will have the very special honor of welcoming Keiron Le Grice, who will enchant us with a presentation on Archetypal Astrology and the Arts. Dr. Le Grice is a professor of depth psychology and chair of the Jungian and Archetypal Studies specialization at Pacifica. He was the founder and co-editor of Archai: The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology, and now serves as Senior Editorial Advisor. In 2016, he established The Institute of Transpersonal and Archetypal Studies (ITAS), which offers workshops on archetypal astrology and depth psychology in London and New York. Keiron Le Grice has authored four books: The Archetypal Cosmos, Discovering Eris, The Rebirth of the Hero, and Archetypal Reflections. He also recently co-edited Jung on Astrology, a compilation of all of Jung’s writings in this area, and is currently working on The Way of the Archetypes—an application of archetypal astrology to individuation and human experience, focusing on especially on the planetary archetypes Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
His Myth Salon presentation will introduce the practice of archetypal astrology as a way to understand the archetypal patterns, themes, and dynamics of our human experience. Drawing on examples from philosophy, psychology, film, and music, we will consider how archetypal themes symbolized in astrological birth charts find expression in and through the lives and creative works of prominent cultural figures—such as Arthur Schopenhauer, Woody Allen, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Federico Fellini, and Ingmar Bergman.
In addition to serving as a feature of Pacifica’s extended community that includes faculty and staff, students, alumni, The Myth Salon serves those involved with Jungian, Depth Psychology and cultural studies. Each month, the Myth Salon gathers together with an invited presenter in the living room of my Santa Monica home from 7-9pm for an evening of wonderful mythic content, ritual and discussion that is moderated by Dr. Will Linn.
In August, the Myth Salon will take a brief hiatus for PGIAA’s Annual LA Area Summer Gathering at the home of Dana and Michelle. A wonderful afternoon and evening affair for people in the community to socialize and get to know one another better. Save the Date: Saturday August 11. Additional information for the Summer Gathering (Potluck & BBQ) will be sent out from Pacifica Alumni LA Regional Team. Stay tuned!
