2017 Chancellor’s Award for Community: Jeni Ambrose
Jeni Ambrose received her bachelor’s degree from Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and launched her career in Washington, D.C. in the press office of a U.S. Senator. She moved on to run national electoral campaigns for the League of Conservation Voters and served as national press secretary for the National Organization for Women. Her passion to help individuals become more liberated, authentic, and empowered led her to pursue a career in coaching and eventually therapeutic counseling. She has focused her somatically-based private practice on populations suffering from trauma and PTSD, with an overwhelming majority of her clients impacted by sexual trauma. In 2013, Ms. Ambrose began laying the groundwork for Global Change Project, a nonprofit organization focused upon developing strategic approaches to ending sexual violence on a global scale. Her organization’s first project, MapYourVoice.org, was recently launched and is now available for use by sexual violence survivors. The online social data mapping platform gives survivors a place to safely and anonymously share their stories, access existing survivor services, and connect with others who care.
