We hope you are all safe and healthy, taking good care of yourselves and your loved ones.
During this period of upheaval and social change, the Counseling Department staff and faculty are committed to continuing to attend to the academic, social, and administrative needs of our MA Counseling community. Together we are dedicated to “holding the frame” of our educational programs while also tending to the emergent needs of our changing situation out there in the world. We are grateful to Core Faculty member, Dr. Mike Elliott, who recently presented a webinar for our community, “Relational Marriage and Family Therapy in an Online World”.
As an additional means of staying in touch and attending to the lively academic and clinical culture of our community, Dr. Matthew Bennett’s live webinar presentation, entitled “Anxiety as a Depth Experience” is open to all students of the Department and Alumni/ae. Event date and time: Thursday, April 9th from 6 PM to 8 PM PDT. This presentation is offered in the spirit of maintaining a connection with our students, alumni/ae and as a way to get together and continue to pursue our own academic, clinical, and personal enrichment.
The webinar is not for credit, not connected to any particular class offered by the Counseling Program, and is purely voluntary. It builds, however, on some of the content covered in Dr. Bennett’s classes such as CP 501 and CP 630A (i.e., the psychodynamic roots of anxiety, their relationship to attachment needs, and their function in determining the structure and dynamics of personality).
The webinar will be offered via Zoom, like all of our coursework at present. Please use the following information to join the webinar this Thursday, April 9th, at 6pm PST:
