Liberating Soul:
Strategies for Coping with Life’s Trials in Disheartening Times and a Shifting World
Saturday, November 4, 2017, 10:00 A.M to 1:45 P.M., Santa Barbara, CA
“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” – Joseph Campbell
In today’s changing and uncertain times, many experience fear, confusion, and anxiety; we wonder if hope is sufficient to keep us safe. History has warned that failure to comprehend the past ensures that it will repeat itself. Our collective history is replete with wars, terror attacks, and life altering disasters. At such times, the universe as we know it appears to shift dramatically and may even seem to teeter on the brink of destruction. We feel disheartened, lost and impotent in the face of such uncontrollable external forces, and desire protection. More and more, individuals turn to external sources of ‘numbing’ in an attempt to maintain a facade of safety.
C.G. Jung, James Hillman, Michael Meade, and Brene Brown, are renowned for their research into the wonder of innate genius, the gift and strength of soul, and the power of vulnerability. This experiential workshop integrates the wisdom of these wise teachers with the result that a more ‘potent’ psychological medicine is distilled.
Participants will explore the innate nature of coping styles, and distinguish between those that mire us in ‘quicksand,’ versus strategies that are liberating. Workshop attendees will learn how to recognize what approaches lead us down the wrong path into a tangled maze and into a situation with greater dangers than those we are attempting to avoid.
Using art, sandtray, story, poetry, and music, participants will also envision what solutions may be hidden from consciousness, yet are waiting to be discovered.
