The next webinar of the 2021-2022 Counseling Community Webinar Series is a Clinical Roundtable on Thursday, April 14th from 6:00-8:00pm PT. Continuing with our Clinical Roundtable events from last year, this webinar will provide a forum for students and alums to participate with our faculty clinicians, as they work with a theoretical clinical case.

Matthew Bennett, PsyD, is Department Co-Chair and Core Faculty for Pacifica Graduate Institute’s Counseling Psychology Department. Matthew is a licensed psychologist, lecturer, and administrator with experience in public sector mental health and substance abuse treatment. He has broad experience in program development. He was formerly founder and first Director of Training for the Ventura County Behavioral Health Pre-Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology and Chair-Elect of the Psychology Department at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, California. His research interests include personality disorders, comparative personality theory, and internet applications for mental health. Dr. Bennett is also a returned Peace Corps volunteer (“Poland III, 1991-1993”).
Jaclyn Deilgat, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who is actively involved in a number of different clinical, academic, and research endeavors. She was formally trained in depth psychology, family systems, and CBT. Jaclyn has extensive applied experience in community mental health on an inpatient and outpatient basis. She provides clinical services to individuals, families, couples, and groups. Jaclyn specializes in treating individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, substance use disorders, severe psychiatric illnesses, and works with people who are experiencing challenges related to their sexuality or gender. She is the director of psychology at a functional restoration program that helps individuals who have sustained industrial injuries. Jaclyn has supervised psychological assistants, interns, and practicum students who were accruing hours towards licensure or practicum, respectively. She previously volunteered for CAPIC as a quality assurance delegate and was a practicum site liaison for a local university. Jaclyn was an adjunct faculty member at several different universities where she taught students enrolled in clinical and counseling psychology programs. She is most excited to join Pacifica’s core faculty in the counseling psychology department. As it pertains to research, Jaclyn is a sub-investigator for a company that conducts clinical research trials investigating novel psychotropic medication for the treatment of a variety of severe psychiatric disorders. She conducted research in cultural and social psychology laboratories at UCSB during her undergraduate coursework. Jaclyn has a continued passion for social justice, equity, advocacy, and reform.
Mike Elliott, PhD, serves as core faculty in the Masters in Counseling Psychology program and is former President of the Academic Senate, and a member of the Senate Leadership Committee. He also teaches courses in the Clinical Psychology PhD and PsyD programs. At Pacifica, Dr. Elliott has taught Clinical Practice, Imaginal and Archetypal Psychology, Marriage/Family/and Relationship Therapy, Psychological Assessment, Legal And Ethical Issues In Professional Practice, Psychopathology, and Cultural Psychology. He has served as the Coordinator of Assessment in the M.A. Counseling Psychology Program and a member of the Institutes Academic Excellence Committee. Dr. Elliott has been in private practice as a psychologist treating individuals, couples, and families for over 24 years and has supervised trainees and interns in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Clinical Psychology. He is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and the American Association of University Professors. Dr. Elliott is the Founding Director of the nationally recognized Auxiliary Studies Program in Orange County California treating secondary school students with learning and behavior disorders. He has conducted workshops and presented papers at various conferences including the American Psychological Association. His publications include: The Art and Soul of Couples and Family Therapy in the CAMFT publication, The Therapist, in June 2013, and The Unmotivated Child: A Crisis in Perception, in The Sky Is The Limit, a bi-monthly journal for Learning Disabilities, in January 1998. Dr. Elliott is currently finishing his first book, Philosophic Psychology: Counseling For The Cultural Crisis.
Tom Steffora, MA, LMFT, is a practicing psychotherapist, based out of Santa Maria and licensed in CA, AZ, and NV. He received his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica in 2013. Thomas is Core Faculty, as well as Research Coordinator and Research Associate for Track D in the Counseling Department. He has taught Psychopathology, Cultural Psychology, Archetypal and Imaginal Psychology, and Research courses for over five years in the MA Counseling program. Working in close collaboration with health care professionals Thomas serves as a clinical consultant with Dignity/CommonSpirit Health in wellness, crisis support, and educational capacities. He has presented publicly and formally on mood and anxiety challenges, especially when involving co-occurring medical issues. Together with his family, he has been a resident of the Central Coast for over 20 years and is passionate about serving his community with a diversity of interests that reflect a soulful commitment to others.
