Mark Christopher Trechter
2011 MA Counseling Alum
Mark Christopher Trechter, of Manhattan, Kansas, born on July 16, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Virginia Trechter and Henry Trechter, passed away at age 59 on October 10, 2018 in Chantilly, Virginia. From an early age and throughout his life he connected with people that others dismissed, saw their worth, and defended their value.
He received his undergraduate business degree from Kansas State University, becoming a CPA. Because of his life-long concern to understand people’s background and motivations, including his own, he later obtained a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. His desire to contemplate and understand his fellow humans along with his innate talent made him an excellent comic, quirky and dramatic writer.
Mark is survived by his brother Stephen Trechter and his wife Kathy, sisters Marilyn and Sara Trechter. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews Katherine Alfaro, Samuel Trechter, James Truxon, Daniel Trechter, Benjamin Graham, Hannah Sistrunk and their families.
Family are making arrangements and request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hungry for Music to provide instruments to under served children and recognize the role of music as a sustaining force in Mark’s life.
