Lyn Cowan, PhD
Cowan, Lyn, PhD a native New Yorker who made Minneapolis her home, died on Jan 28, 2022 from complications of Parkinson’s. She was a brilliant, highly respected and influential Jungian analyst who studied at the Jung Institute in Zurich, and graduated from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts where she later served as Training Director and President. Lyn authored several books and articles on Archetypal Psychology. Her papers will likely be archived at Pacifica Graduate Institute. In addition to her analytic practice, Lyn was an engaging lecturer who presented internationally, entwining her storytelling and love of horse racing with her Jungian teachings and scholarly expertise. Lyn was also an accomplished, exhibited photographer. She could converse on any topic from the Minnesota Vikings to the Lynx, from politics to movies, and deep intellectual thought. She was a modern Renaissance woman! She leaves a sister Nancy Shores Karlebach (Craig), nephew, Jarad Karlebach and niece, Nicole Karlebach (Matt Hoisington), grand-niece, Eva, and special friend, Jeanne Lacourt, among many other good friends and colleagues.
