Justin James Dixon

Obituary

Born July 4, 1968, Rockville, Connecticut. Died October 8th, 2022, Tucson, Arizona

Survived by his husband, Dale Thompson, his parents Jerry and Marjorie Dixon, his sisters Ashlyn Dixon Schaub and Kira Dixon Weinstein, brothers-in-law James Schaub and Adam Weinstein, and his nieces and nephews Bridgette, Derek, Hayden, Anya, and Arlo.

Justin was well traveled, funny, and a visionary with a natural curiosity about people and places that earned him many friends. He worked in Hollywood and then helped create Estancia Yerba Buena and The Mercado District of Menlo Park (Tucson, Arizona). The Mercado District has become a real jewel in Tucson and the Estancia Yerba Buena will become another jewel in Santa Cruz County thanks to his vision of real places for people.

He graduated from Bennington College and earned his Master’s degree and had been a doctoral candidate in Mythological Studies with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California, where the Joseph Campbell library is located. His dissertation was on Near Death Experiences where he grew to believe that there is a Spirit World that is reachable after death if you follow the light. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
