 CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Alumni Relations and the Professional Development Team celebrated and recognized International Women’s Day today (March 9th). Faculty and staff were invited to offer short vignettes of their work and/or poetry readings.

We were honored to welcome our alumnae:

Stacy Zumbroegel, MA Counseling—a practicing counselor and meditation teacher who offered individual and group meditation in the Ladera Board Room. For many years Stacy’s specialty has been working with young women who suffer from trauma and loss. Recently returned home to Santa Barbara, she runs a social business in textiles, working to empower weavers, and offers counseling trainings to nuns and laypeople through a Myanmar NGO.

Alexis Slutzky, MFT, MA Counseling – is a mentor, educator, guide, and facilitator whose work focuses on cultural restoration through council, dream work, nature connection, grief tending, community ritual, and rites of passage. Alexis is a council trainer, holds a Master’s Degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and is adjunct faculty at Antioch University. She offers groups, trainings, and one-on-one mentoring out of her private practice, Wild Belonging, and in affiliation with other organizations.

International Women’s Day 2020 theme is #EachforEqual

An equal world is an enabled world.

Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.

Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world.

Let’s all be #EachforEqual.

The race is on for the gender equal boardroom, a gender equal government, gender equal media coverage, gender equal workplaces, gender equal sports coverage, more gender equality in health and wealth … so let’s make it happen. Let’s be #EachforEqual.
