In Events, Toast

Join Us on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2017!
(Our Toast begins at 12:00 Noon PDT)

Trying times call for folk to join together — to express mutual concern, support, and especially phileo — the love we feel for our fellow planet walkers.
For the last 6 years, Pacifica Graduate Institute Alumni Association has held a New Year’s Eve TOAST HEARD ROUND THE WORLD on various social media sites — this year’s link is toastpacifica2018.com— and this year we feel our annual outreach to one another is more important than ever.

Our goal is to create a space to affirm what we are grateful for, especially in light of recognizing that so many lives, including alumni lives, have been changed forever as a result of many disastrous events this past year.

Pacifica Graduate Institute Alumni Association joins forces with Our Neighbors . . . Our Community for Twelve Days of Gratitude http://www.keyt.com/news/santa-barbara-s-county/santa-barbara-city-leaders-create-12-days-of-gratitude-movement/677516792

Please help us weave an etheric net of love and concern for one another across the world, via the internet this New Year’s Eve — celebrate that which you’re grateful for and send out some phileo to those communities who suffered so much this year.

Communities and tragedies we are holding specially in our hearts:

  • Hurricane Harvey
  • Hurricane Irma
  • Earthquakes in Mexico
  • Hurricane Maria
  • Las Vegas Shooting
  • Fires in Santa Rosa
  • Terror in New York
  • Church Shootings
  • Fires in Ventura/Santa Barbara (including our neighbors in Fillmore, Santa Paula, Ojai, Carpinteria, Montecito, Summerland)

Pacificans are celebrating and grateful for this year:

  • The Retreat Center at Pacifica was launched.
  • Numerous alumni defended their Dissertations.
  • The Myth Salon celebrated its first full year of programs.
  • Regional alumni activities and events flourished.
  • Pacifica’s beloved campuses remained standing and untouched by the fires.
  • And we are grateful that as a nation we moved forward despite often troubling rhetoric— thank you to groups like the Women’s March, and the Indivisible to name just two.
  • PGIAA CARELINE was launched.
  • Alumni/ae who continue ‘making a difference in our world’.

Testimonials:
“I am so excited about PGIAA’s and PGI Alumni Relations 6th Toast Heard Around the World. I love seeing all of the connections – alumni/ae, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community. This year seems especially important. We can also join with Santa Barbara’s 12 Days of Gratitude.  It seems to be a time to ask, “How can I best serve? What is my small part to tend?”  — Dr. Jo Todd, President of the PGIAA Board.

“I join all alumni in a ‘Toast’ celebrating the continuing good work we do in the world to make it a better place for each other, for our communities, for our environment, and for all of nature. Also, a toast to the teachers who provided us such an amazing education. May all our alumni continue to prosper and grow in compassion, kindness, tenderness, and fierceness. And Congratulations to the Pacifica Graduate Institute Alumni Association as it approaches 5 years of service to alumni on April 17, 2018.” — Tom Lyon, MA Counseling Psychology

“The Toast Heard Round the World is such a fun and magical way to see how far and wide Pacifica alumni have scattered across our amazing world. I love knowing that there are Pacificans everywhere tending soul in and of the world — it’s beautiful and so very important!” — Dr. Beth Anne Boardman (Myth 2012)
