Canceled: MLKSB Honors Martin Luther King, Jr. in Santa Barbara – Jan 17
Unfortunately, due to the recent Covid surge, this event has been canceled.
Dear Community Supporter,
We regret to inform you that, in light of the worsening COVID infection rates in our city and county, the Board of the MLK Committee of Santa Barbara has voted to cancel our MLK Day event scheduled to have taken place in De La Guerra Plaza next Monday, January 17.
In place of the planned in-person program, TV Santa Barbara (TVSB) has graciously agreed to replay the 2021 MLK Day celebration. The program can be found on local channels 17 (Voice) and 71 (Culture), via Cox cable or on the TVSB YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtevyY0OsCc). The airing schedule will be as follows:
Due to the circumstances, we are in the process of developing our 2022 virtual program, and will make it available to you in the near future. In the interim, reference the attached article from the upcoming edition (January 14, 2022) of Voice Magazine, where we celebrate all of the young writers of the 2022 MLKSB Essay and Poetry Awards Program. Congratulations to all of our local, talented Santa Barbara County students.
The MLKSB Board thanks you so much for partnering with us. Your continued support, which can be conveniently completed through our website (https://mlksb.org/donate/), helps us to create programs that directly impact the Santa Barbara community.
Sincerely,
Onja Brown Lawson, President
