The Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center sponsors a lecture and one-day workshop on the “Wisdom of Women’s Stories” on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 18-19. The lecture, at 7 p.m. on Friday, is by donation, and discusses the differences between heroes and heroines. The 9 a.m.-5 p.m. workshop is facilitated by Jody Bower, who holds a doctorate in mythological studies with a depth psychology emphasis from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Cost of workshop is $65.
The workshop is designed to help women apply the wisdom of women’s stories to their own lives, according to Unity.
Bower lectures on the topic of the heroine at conferences and teaches classes on archetypes and mythology through the Adult Learning Programs at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Her book, “Jane Eyre’s Sisters: How Women Live and Write the Heroine Story,” was published by Quest Books in March of this year.
