Drumming & Myth
Healing Urban Youth with Alchemy Program

Location: Grace Dodge Hall, 177/179
Time: 11am – 12pm
Website: Alchemyinc.net

in 2012, Alchemy received the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award presented by First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House — The Nation’s highest honor for after and out-of-school programs.

Alchemy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of urban male adolescents. Through the telling, discussion and analysis of myths, Alchemy participants learn that common themes in myth mirror commotion themes in life, which helps them incorporate the character traits of the hero into their own lives.

On Tuesday, March 29, Alchemy founder Kwame Scruggs will lead us in a Grand Rounds immersion experience of drumming and mythological storytelling and a presentation on Alchemy.
