Sherrie Sims Allen holds both a Master of Arts degree and PhD in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a Master of Arts degrees in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica.  Her research is focused on women, rage, racism, sexism, and feelings of invisibility. Sims Allen’s dissertation Transforming Rage: Revisioning the Myth of the Angry Black Woman, offers a revisioning of Black women’s rage, which is typically viewed as a destructive emotion offering no value to modern society. She has presented her work at both the Society of Humanistic Psychology and the Jungian Society for Scholarly Studies conferences. Her work involves formulating workshops for people who are interested in exploring their cultural wounds.

Informed by her study of Jungian Psychology, Sims Allen is a practitioner of the Myers Briggs Topology Instrument (MBTI).  Along with her husband, Dr. Melvin Allen, she has designed and conducted relationship seminars and workshops for couples and singles across the United States using the Myers Briggs instrument. Together, the Allen’s have co-authored a book, The Allen Method: Exploring Relationships Through the Lens of Myers Briggs, to be published in 2019.
