With Much Gratitude!
Today’s local update is quite somber as more details emerge surrounding the mudslides in Montecito. The list of the 17 victims of the mudslide have been published. It is with a heavy heart as I write to you all today and it is with continued hope and belief in miracles that those missing will be found. This is an unimaginable tragedy and our thoughts and prayers continue to be sent. Our local station, KEYT, has been providing regular updates and you can find them here.
In addition, our local on-line website, Noozhawk provides up to date news and coverage.
Sometimes in life we don’t recognize how strong we actually are until we are faced with a great tragedy in our life. We cannot escape these tragedies and many of us, like myself, try to search for a reason and continually ask, why? Perhaps what defines our character is not what makes us suffer but how we rise up after getting pulled down. What we face today will help develop the strength and fortitude we need for tomorrow. All we can do is continue to slowly put one one foot in front of the other and start a new day today and make a new tomorrow.

Pacifica Update
Today we continued to safely host our students and guests in the Carpinteria area. Track L students will be departing today, and we will host our Retreat Guests over the next few days. The Mythology Studies and Counseling Psychology classes scheduled for this weekend will not occur in Santa Barbara. Zoom Webinars may be scheduled and we ask that you watch for those details.
Presently, we do not have access on to either Campus; however, we continue to monitor developments in this hugely sad situation. We believe that the Lambert Campus is good condition, and initial reports regarding the Ladera Campus have been positive.
In the meantime, we continue to focus our thoughts and prayers with our neighbors, our community in Montecito as the search and rescue efforts continue. We will notify you as new information becomes available.

Dear All,
Both the Ladera Lane and Lambert Road Campuses will remain closed tomorrow.
Today, we continued hosting students and guest in the Carpinteria area, having located alternative classroom space, food service and lodging.
Assessment of our contingency plans with discussions for upcoming programs continues tomorrow (Wednesday) with additional information ASAP.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this this time of great sadness in our community.

Pacifica’s Ladera Lane and Lambert Road Campuses will remain closed. We are currently on-site at Best Western to insure safety and well-being of our Students and Retreat Center Guests.
Please do not attempt to come to Campus or the Hotel. “Shelter-in-place.”

Morning Update
Pacifica Graduate Institute
Due to extreme weather conditions, Pacifica’s Ladera Lane Campus will remain closed today.
We are currently unable to access our Lambert Lane Campus, due to road closures. Please be advised that we are working with Staff and Faculty to make alternative arrangements for our students and guests to insure the safety of all.
At this time, both campuses are closed today. Further assessments will be announced later today.
Please do not attempt to drive to the campuses this morning.
