Raw, Well-Cooked, and Burnt to a Crisp: Recovering from Burnout
with Marilyn J. Owen, MA, LMFT
Please join us as we start the new year with our January luncheon on January 20, 2016 at 11:30 AM at The University Club, 1332 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, where Marilyn Owen, LMFT will be talking about a topic just about everyone can relate to: burn-out and self-care.
We all talk about burnout, we all know how it happens and why, and yet, most of us get singed despite our best efforts.
Our January speaker will look at this hot topic from a poetic, archetypal, systemic, practical, and candid point of view, keeping in mind the micro and the macro dimensions of this complex and universal issue.
Attendees will:
- Review current research and clinical understandings of burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma
- Explore internal factors that may inhibit effective self-care
- Discuss external factors that need to be acknowledged
- Be introduced to different ways to think about and attend to our emotional well-being
