Isaac Garrett
Isaac Garrett has been a resident of Santa Barbara since 1960
He and his wife Alice raised 3 boys in Santa Barbara.
Isaac’s primary and secondary education was in Louisiana.
He is a graduate of Santa Barbara Community College and the Realtor’s Institute of California. He is a Real Estate Broker affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway Home Service California Properties in Santa Barbara.
During his 49-year real estate career, Isaac has been incredibly supportive of the real estate industry/profession by answering the call to serve on numerous boards and committees in support of the industry’s mission and bylaws for the benefit of its members and the public they serve. He is currently the Chair of the Ombudsman Committee and a member of the professional Standards Committee of the local board of realtors. He is in his 27th year as a mediator and arbitrator for the Santa Barbara Board and 15th year for the California of Realtors. He is also a Volunteer Fee Arbitrator for the State Bar of California.
Isaac is one of the founding members of Berkshire Hathaway Home Service California Properties’ Diversity Impact Council to make sure all marginalized communities have access to real estate services.
He has been a drum major for social justice for all people in Santa Barbara and beyond. He served on the 1991/92 Santa Barbara County Civil Grand Jury and was elected chair of the Criminal Justice Committee in addition to serving on 3 other committees. He has served on committees for the City and County of Santa Barbara.
He is one of the founding members of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee of Santa Barbara, he is a past president, and current vice president.
He is a member of the Free Methodist Church of Santa Barbara and continues to serve on several committees.
Isaac is past president of the NAACP Santa Barbara Branch where he served for 6 years. He was the first African American to run for Santa Barbara City Council in 1969, and first African American to run for Santa Barbara Mayor in 2009.
Isaac has received many Awards and Certificates of Appreciation from the Real Estate Industry, governmental agencies and private organizations for his services and support to the Santa Barbara Community.
Some of the recognition Isaac Has received includes but not limited to: Recognition Award from the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce 1989; Special Award Santa Barbara Association of Realtors 1985; Life Time Achievement Award Santa Barbara News Press 1994; Special Recognition Award from the NAACP Santa Barbara Branch 1985; Realtor of the Year Santa Barbara Association of Realtors in 2011; Honorary Member for Life in 2013 Santa Barbara Association of Realtors and the California Association: REALTOR EMERITUS IN 2014 the National Association of REALTORS.
Isaac believes there is no greater reward than serving his community and fellow man through genuine, caring service so all humanity can enjoy the freedom and opportunities, and to be able to develop their “God given talents” to their fullest extent.
